Have questions about achieving compliance with the Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI)? Marcus Elmer of the Copper Development Association (CDA) has answers.
Recently, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it would uphold Biden-era regulations under the LCRI, the drinking water regulation mandating the replacement of all lead service lines by 2037. The Trump administration could eventually make changes to this rule, but for now, the requirement will remain in place requiring complete lead service line replacement, with the rule going into effect in 2027.
In this episode of “Water Finance & Management Conversations,” Elmer, vice president at the Copper Development Association who has with more than 15 years of experience in the plumbing and mechanical industries, talks about copper’s role as one replacement pipe material of choice for lead service lines. We also chat about copper’s inclusion in the rule itself, as well as CDA resources for municipalities and contractors.
