Pittsburgh Water’s Pickering appointed to National Drinking Water Advisory Council

Pittsburgh Water CEO Will Pickering has been appointed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to its National Drinking Water Advisory Council (NDWAC). His two-year term is effective immediately.

“It’s an honor to join this distinguished group of professionals committed to safe and reliable drinking water across the nation,” said Pickering. “I am proud to share the lessons we’ve learned in Pittsburgh and contribute to the national drinking water policy conversations at NDWAC,” he said.

At the helm of Pittsburgh Water, Pickering is leading water quality and safety initiatives that are having a direct, positive effect on public health and the environment. Pittsburgh Water has implemented the award-winning, nationally recognized Community Lead Response, is ramping up investment in its ambitious capital program including the generational projects making up the Water Reliability Plan, and is conducting effective water quality testing to deliver safe, reliable drinking water to customers. With this experience, Pickering is positioned to make meaningful contributions to the Advisory Council that will influence national water policy. His appointment was recommended by the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies, where he serves as a member of its Board of Directors.

“Pittsburgh Water is proud that Will Pickering has been selected to serve alongside distinguished leaders in the water industry,” said Alex Sciulli, Chair of the Pittsburgh Water Board. “His leadership of Pennsylvania’s largest publicly owned water, sewer, and stormwater authority brings invaluable expertise to the highest levels of government.”
