Houston Public Works Director Randy Macchi recently announced the city is hiring Andrew Molly, who will serve as the department’s first chief water officer.
“Drew is truly a “who’s who” in the world of water,” Macchi wrote on LinkedIn. “Beyond his technical expertise, he is widely respected as a thoughtful, collaborative, and visionary leader. He is deeply committed to the people he serves and the teams he leads, and brings a proven ability to navigate complex challenges while inspiring innovation.”
As chief water officer, Molly will oversee Houston Public Works’ drinking water and wastewater systems. He currently serves as chief operating officer at Corpus Christi Water in the City of Corpus Christ, Texas, which serves a seven-county service area covering 140 square miles. Molly is also a past Chair of the Texas Section of AWWA and has been actively involved in AWWA for more than 20 years.
Molly will officially begin his new role on Sept. 15.
