Badger Meter Introduces E-Series Ultrasonic Plus Meter

Badger Meter, a manufacturer of flow measurement, control and communications solutions, recently announced the introduction of its E-Series Ultrasonic Plus meter, the latest addition to its family of E-Series Ultrasonic meters. The new meter was launched at AWWA ACE16, June 20-22 in Chicago.Badger

The stainless steel E-Series Ultrasonic Plus meter incorporates an integrated shutoff valve into the lay length of the meter and features a patented three-state flow restriction valve (U.S. Pat. No. 8,539,827) that enables water utility operators to open, close and partially close the valve from the utility office or other location. Utility personnel will be able to remotely actuate and manage the valve through a mobile reading device or with the company’s BEACON Advanced Metering Analytics (AMA) software.

Other features of the new E-Series Ultrasonic Plus meter include a permanent seal that maximizes field life through a patent-pending magnetic coupled valve and a flexible, tamper-proof design. This allows utilities to install the meter and the valve at the same time, or gives them the option to install the meter first and add the valve later.

“The E-Series Ultrasonic Plus meter is built around the only patented flow restriction valve in the market, providing remote access that saves time and money for water utilities,” said Jan Boyer, Badger Meter marketing manager. “With the new meter and remote access, utility operators can safely and efficiently restrict water service. The most common application is to inhibit water service to encourage prompt payment from a property owner. Other applications may include opening or closing the valve with tenant changes or to accommodate end water customer requests for temporary water restriction.”

E-Series Ultrasonic water meters from Badger Meter use solid-state technology in a compact, totally encapsulated, weatherproof and UV-resistant housing, suitable for residential and commercial applications. Equipped with an easy-to-read, 9-digit LCD display, the ultrasonic meter reports consumption, rate of flow, reverse-flow indication and alarms. With no moving parts, the E-Series Ultrasonic meter improves reliability and has greater extended low flow accuracy compared to mechanical meters. E-Series Ultrasonic meters are available in both engineered polymer and stainless steel and are fully compatible with Badger Meter’s BEACON AMA and ORION meter reading technologies.
