CH2M HILL, a global full-service consulting, design, construction and operations firm, announced that Glen Daigger, CH2M HILL Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, transitioned from President-Elect to President of the International Water Association (IWA) during the 2010 IWA World Water Congress, held Sept. 19-24 in Montreal. Daigger, who is recognized worldwide as an expert in wastewater treatment technologies, officially took office for a two-year term as President during the closing IWA Gala Dinner in the Palais de Congres de Montreal.
IWA is the global network of water professionals, with members in more than 180 countries and from every continent except Antarctica. Daigger has been a member of IWA for 36 years, and has served most recently as President-Elect, Senior Vice President and as a member of the Finance and Investment Committee.
?I am deeply honored to become the President of the International Water Association,? says Daigger. ?While we have collectively accomplished much in the past several years, numerous challenges and opportunities lie ahead. We must work to develop and deliver programs that serve not only the developed world, but also that aggressively work to serve the needs in the developing world so that all of our efforts are equally relevant and impactful no matter where you live.?
With so much to do in such a short time, Daigger will focus on four initiatives during his time in office: ?
Continue to build strength, both in participation and financially to allow the organization to expand its programs.
- Expand the family, by including a broader range of professionals than ever before
- Reinforce the culture of a ?bottom-up? organization
- Dare to be great, addressing an increasingly ?water constrained? global situation by helping to transform water management policies and practices to see that the needs of all citizens of the planet are met well into the future
