This Week Is National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week

leadThis week, Oct. 23-29, is National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week and the theme is “Lead-Free Kids for a Healthy Future.” Working with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. EPA is conducting outreach and promoting educational activities to raise community awareness of lead issues.

Normally focused on exposures related to lead-based paint, this year’s promotion is expanding its messaging to specifically target lead in drinking water. EPA’s Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water has a webpage dedicated to outreach for the event, which along with EPA’s main page, provide numerous links and educational resources that can be used for public outreach.
