Badger Meter announced it has donated $5,000 to the Water Buffalos in support of efforts to construct and maintain safe, reliable drinking water systems in developing countries worldwide. The Water Buffalos include more than 40 members from the global water and wastewater industry who share a passion for motorcycles and the belief that everyone deserves access to clean drinking water.
Each year, the Water Buffalos ride their motorcycles to the American Water Works Association?s Annual Conference and Expo (ACE) to raise money and awareness for Water For People, an international nonprofit organization devoted to helping villages build and maintain safe water systems.
Founded in 2005, the Water Buffalos solicit contributions from companies and individuals for Water For People and ride thousands of miles to convene at the annual industry event. ACE12 took place in Dallas, Texas at the Dallas Convention Center, June 10-13 where Badger Meter was a Gold level sponsor of the event.

Both Cindy Kransler, director of utility sales at Badger Meter, and Rob Fehl, product marketing manager at Badger Meter, have been involved in the Water Buffalos? annual ride. Kransler has been an active member of the Water Buffalos since its inception.
?We?re very fortunate to have safe drinking water here in the U.S. and many people forget that there are countries where people die every single day because of unsanitary drinking water and wastewater conditions,? she said. ?It takes as little as $5,000 to establish a safe drinking water system in a small town in those developing countries. Water For People as a charity just makes sense. It?s a great cause and a great organization.?
Members of the Water Buffalos adorn their vests with patches featuring the names and logos of businesses that sponsor the ride. They also make appearances at sponsoring company booths during the ACE show.
This year, the Water Buffalos raised more than $125,000 for Water For People and its members logged more than 28,000 miles to attend the show. The group?s founder, Ken Howe and his wife Anne rode an impressive 3,400 miles on their way to ACE12. In total, the Water Buffalos have raised over $400,000 for Water For People to date.
