The 2020 Water Finance Conference, which will be presented in a virtual format this September, will touch on a range of topics in the water utility finance space including rate setting, customer affordability short- and long-term financial planning, revenue recovery through technology, financing unfunded regulatory mandates and privatization and consolidation.
The sixth annual event, which exclusively covers financing in the U.S. water utility sector, was originally scheduled for Aug. 19-20 in Washington, D.C. Due to ongoing concerns about the coronavirus pandemic, the event will now present two-hour online sessions on Sept. 8, 10, 15 and 17.
Each two-hour session will feature a live video broadcast of the presenters and panel discussions. Each session will include a 30-minute kick-off presentation to set the table on the session’s theme followed by a 90-minute panel discussion. Each presentation and panel will feature leading experts from across the water utility sector including representatives from public and investor-owned utilities, utility finance managers and CFOs, financial consultants and service providers who have a vested interest in the financing of water and sewer systems in the United States.
Session 1 on Sept. 8 will cover rates and financial planning amid the COVID-19 pandemic and will feature a panel discussion covering affordability. Session 2 on Sept. 10 will cover data intelligence its connection to making capital planning decisions, featuring a panel discussion on revenue recovery. Session 3 on Sept. 15 will cover EPA initiatives and financing unfunded federal and state mandates. Session 4 on Sept. 17 will examine the private utility business model with a panel discussion on public vs. private. Learn more about the current lineup of speakers and panelists here.
The Water Finance Conference is tailored to executive-level water utility professionals, including utility chief financial officers, directors, general managers, superintendents, CEOs and other finance managers/personnel. Content is also geared toward consultants, financial advisors, attorneys and service providers involved in the financing of municipal water, wastewater and stormwater systems.
The event is hosted annually by the journal Water Finance & Management, published by Benjamin Media. The event is presented in partnership with main event sponsor, the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), which represents public wastewater and stormwater agencies of all sizes nationwide.
Attendance for the virtual sessions is $75 for an individual session and $200 for full conference. Virtual conference attendees will have the opportunity to network with presenters, panelists, other attendees and the conference sponsors, virtual exhibitors, as well as submit questions to presenters and panelists throughout the sessions. The virtual WFC sessions will feature a live video broadcast of the presenters and panel discussions.
