Paul Gagliardo Speaks at Water Innovations Alliance Conference

American Water?s Paul Gagliardo, manager of innovation development, delivered a keynote address at the 4th Annual Water Innovations Alliance Conference in Boston, Mass. on September 5-6.

Gagliardo?s presentation focused on operational efficiency and driven innovation at American Water, highlighting the company?s Innovation Development Process (IDP). This initiative is a proactive approach to leverage the company?s position and expertise to validate innovations using the company?s large and geographically diverse footprint, ultimately becoming an early-adopter of new technologies for industry use.
Through its IDP, the company has tested new approaches and technologies to create greater efficiencies in water reuse, desalination, wastewater operations and bioenergy. The initiative is reaping results through numerous innovative approaches that range from connecting to the Smart Grid through ENBALA Power Networks to investing in the development of NPXpress, a more sustainable and affordable wastewater treatment method to remove nutrients. These were among the innovations discussed in Gagliardo?s presentation.

In addition to the keynote, Gagliardo also participated in a panel discussion about hot topics and evolving strategies in intellectual property.

The Water Innovations Alliance Conference is designed to improve awareness and collaboration between large companies, engineering firms, universities, utilities, start-ups, NGOs and governments by educating attendees on new water technologies, innovations and prospects.
