Donahue Formally Named AWWA President at ACE

In a spirited event at the conclusion of the ACE14, John Donahue, chief executive officer of North Park (Ill.) Water District, on June 11, accepted the ceremonial AWWA gavel and began his term as president. The Gavel Passing Ceremony was the culmination of the five-day conference that drew water professionals and water technology providers to Boston.

On July 15, quasar energy group, a Cleveland-based waste-to-energy company, held an event for more than 150 municipal representatives, public officials and members of the media to tout the progress and celebrate the grand opening of its anaerobic digestion facility which provides wastewater treatment services for the City of Wooster and surrounding areas.

House Spending Bill Would Cut EPA Budget for FY 2015

Under a House spending bill released last month, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) would get 9 percent less funding in 2015 from 2014, and would see its staffing level capped at 1989 levels.The bill, the 2015 Interior and Environment Appropriations bill, released by the House Appropriations Committee, includes funding for the Department of the Interior, EPA, the Forest Service, the Indian Health Service and various independent and related agencies.
