Miami-Dade, DC Water award condition assessment contracts to Pure Technologies

Pipeline Condition Assessment

DC Water and the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department recently awarded Pure Technologies U.S. Inc. multi-year condition assessment contracts worth up to a combined $40 million.

The Miami-Dade work, worth up to $30 million over five years, allows Pure U.S. to work beyond August, 2017, when an existing contract is set to expire. Work under the new contract is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2017.

Pure U.S. will continue to provide inspection and monitoring services for a portion of Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department’s water and wastewater system comprised of large-diameter concrete and metallic pipelines. This new contract highlights Miami-Dade’s continued commitment to a proactive asset management strategy for critical pipeline assets and the successful delivery of water services to its many customers. Pure U.S. has been working with Miami-Dade since 2010.

The services under the contract will use a range of Pure Technologies’ patented leak detection and condition assessment technologies including the company’s PipeDiver platform, a free-swimming technology that can collect data on critical pipelines while the pipelines remain in service.

The DC Water contract, worth up to $10 million over five years, covers condition assessment of DC Water’s major water and sewer pipelines.

Using its proprietary technologies and solutions, Pure U.S. will collect new pipeline inspection and condition data and work with DC Water’s asset management division to integrate this information into its existing data management systems. Pure U.S. will also provide data analysis and recommend pipeline rehabilitation options for large diameter water pipelines and major sewers in Washington, DC.

The new contract expands on prior work – conducted by Pure U.S. over the past three years – including pipeline condition assessment and helping to develop a pipeline risk prioritization and management program allowing DC Water to cost effectively manage their critical pipelines. Previous, collaborative efforts also include an analysis of DC Water’s large diameter water pipelines using machine learning techniques to determine probability and consequence of failure.

Pure Technologies U.S. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Calgary, Alberta, Canada-based Pure Technologies Ltd.
