Water Utility Infrastructure Management (UIM) is pleased to announce that Steve Maxwell has joined the editorial board. Maxwell is Managing Director of TechKNOWLEDGEy Strategic Group, based in Boulder, Colo.
He formed TechKNOWLEDGEy Strategic Group (TSG) in 1992 to provide consulting and advisory services to the environmental and water resource industries. The firm offers strategic and management consulting services, as well as merger and acquisition support to a broad array of public and private entities in the environmental and water industries. Maxwell has been instrumental in initiating and managing successful acquisition and merger transactions, developing more practical strategic planning processes, building more effective sales and marketing programs, and in helping to implement stronger management organizations, for many of the leading companies in the environmental industry. Over the years, his firm has been active in assisting major global corporations, including firms like Hewlett-Packard, Monsanto, Dupont, Dow Chemical, Severn Trent, MWH Global, Arcadis and many others, in evaluating and entering various sectors of the environmental and water industries.
Maxwell has 25 years of experience in the environmental and resource management fields. Prior to founding TSG, he served as Vice President of Marketing for the hazardous waste management company USPCI, Inc.; Manager of Strategic Planning for Union Pacific Corporation; President of ElectroPure Systems ? a wastewater treatment venture; and Executive V.P. and a Director of Recra Environmental, an environmental lab and consulting firm. Previously, he held marketing and financial staff positions in the mining and minerals industry.
Maxwell holds master?s degrees in public policy and in geology from Harvard University, and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Earlham College.
Maxwell and his wife Susan have two grown children, Nicholas and Rebecca. He is an avid long-distance cyclist, and enjoys photography, skiing, hiking and other outdoor activities. He recently became one of the few Americans to successfully complete the legendary cycling climb Mont Ventoux, in southern France, from all three directions in one day. Originally from the mid-west, Mr. Maxwell spent many of his younger years in East Africa, and still enjoys international travel whenever the opportunity presents itself. Finally, he tries to keep his feet wet by serving on the Board of Directors of his local water utility district.
