Koontz Takes Over As AWWA President

Gene C. Koontz, president of Gannett Fleming in Harrisburg, Pa.,accepted the gavel as president of AWWA from Immediate Past PresidentJohn J. Donahue during ACE15 in Anaheim, Calif., last week.

An AWWA member since 1982, Koontz oversees environmental services forGannett Fleming Inc., a global infrastructure firm that providesplanning, design, technology and construction management services for adiverse range of markets and disciplines. He has served as an activevolunteer and leader within the AWWA Pennsylvania Section as well as onthe broader association level.

Koontz began his role as president-elect in June 2014, at the conclusionof AWWA?s 2014 Annual Conference and Exposition in Boston, Mass. Hispresidential term will last one year.?

A civil engineering graduate from Lehigh University, Koontz has heldmany leadership positions within the Pennsylvania Section, includingSection Chair, Chair of the Water Quality Committee, member of the WaterUtility Council, and Chair of the Program Committee.?On a broaderlevel, he has served on three separate Water Research Foundation projectadvisory committees.
