The International Private Water Association?s (IPWA) Financial Tools Taskforce will hold a meeting via conference call on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. EST. The meeting will focus on the United States Agency for International Development?s (USAID) various new and evolving initiatives within the global water sector.
There will be three speakers during the meeting: John Pasch, head of the Office of Water within USAID’s EGAT division (the USAID EGAT division is now known as the E3 division which refers to economic growth, education and environment); Amanda Hawkins, who is the Asia/MENA team leader and investment officer within USAID’s Development Credit Authority division; and Jeremy Hagger, a senior advisor within USAID’s Private Capital Group for Africa division.

The USAID recognizes the importance of creating a more water secure world and the value of addressing immediate water needs while building the appropriate foundations for meeting future demands on water resources. The USAID also embraces the value of investing in policy and legal reforms, building local capacity and strengthening water resources planning, management and governance as means of generating lasting beneficial changes and results.

The USAID presentations to the Financial Tools Taskforce will encompass a particular focus on the Africa, MENA and Asia regions. The USAID served as a leading facilitator in the exporting of the State Revolving Fund (SRF) funding concept/model and establishing SRF-style programs in India and the Philippines.
