The WateReuse Association has selected Jon Freedman, global government affairs leader for SUEZ’s Water Technologies & Solutions business unit, to chair its Legislative and Regulatory Policy Committee. The committee supports the Board of Directors in setting an agenda to advocate for policies and funding that increase water reuse.

The WateReuse Association is a coalition of utilities, businesses, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and recycled water users that embrace water reuse and recycled water. Comprised of representatives from the membership, the Legislative and Regulatory Committee tracks key legislation and represents the association in congressional testimony and in meetings with members of Congress and Administration staff.

“Jon brings a wealth of water-related policy experience and a strong network of relationships with key water policymakers to this position. WateReuse is fortunate that Jon is able to lead our federal advocacy efforts,” stated Patricia Sinicropi, WateReuse Association Executive Director.

As chair, Freedman uses his expertise in global affairs to lead the committee in developing position papers, letters, congressional testimony, frequently asked questions and other content. The WateReuse Association has been successful in securing laws, policy, and funding to support water recycling.

“Water reuse will play an important role in securing a sustainable water future for our nation,” said Freedman. “It’s an honor to be the Chair of this WateReuse Association committee and to advocate for both near-term and long-term policies that will promote greater water reuse.”
