EPA to host webinar on WIFIA application

Water utility officials interested in learning more about the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) pilot program will have the opportunity to participate in an EPA webinar detailing the application process this week.

Scheduled for 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday, March 7, the “WIFIA Letter of Interest Submission and Project Selection” webinar will feature EPA staff explaining the process that prospective borrowers should follow to submit a letter of interest, as well as how EPA will evaluate and select recipients of WIFIA loans.  Webinar participants will be able to submit questions to presenters.

EPA has set an April 10 deadline for entities to submit initial application materials for the first round of available WIFIA funding, which could make more than $1 billion worth of low-interest loans available for water and wastewater projects nationwide.  This week’s webinar is EPA’s final scheduled informational session on the WIFIA program before the deadline. Water utility officials interested in attending the webinar should register in advance online.

There will also be an opportunity to learn about WIFIA opportunities in person at AMWA’s 2017 Water Policy Conference. A panel of EPA WIFIA staff, led by program director Jorianne Jernberg, will present an overview of the program, discuss how utilities can apply for funds, provide information on how EPA will evaluate applications and make funding decisions and answer questions.
