CONFERENCES: PVC Pipe Association Holds Successful Annual Meeting in Key West

The Uni-Bell PVC Pipe Association held its 40th Annual Meeting April 23-25 at the Marriott Key West Beachside Hotel in Key West, Fla.

The meeting, which takes place each April, is billed as ?the largest gathering of PVC pipe and fitting manufacturers in the world.? The meeting featured presentations covering topics ranging from market assessments for PVC pipe, vinyl resin and related chemicals, sustainability, technology, legislative affairs and product certification. Speakers included academics, business analysts, engineers, municipal officials, taxpayer advocates and public affairs specialists. The meeting was sponsored by the North American Pipe Corp., Arkema Inc., Specialized Fittings, Inc., and Maxseal.
Several awards were also handed out at the meeting. Steve Gross, director of research and development and technical services for CertainTeed?s Pipe Business received the Technical Service Award for his consistent and dedicated contribution to Uni-Bell?s Technical Committee. Gross has 30 years of experience in the analysis, design and marketing of engineered products. Ron Bishop, director of engineering and technical services at Diamond Plastics was awarded the Thomas E. Torokvei Lifetime Achievement Award. Bishop is considered an expert in the PVC pipe industry and its application in water and sewer systems. Brad Corbett Sr., president of S&B Technical, also received the lifetime achievement honor. According to Uni-Bell, Corbett is ?one of the founding fathers and true innovators in the PVC pipe industry.? ?
