Brown and Caldwell Wins Prestigious Safety Awards

safetyBrown and Caldwell (BC) has again been recognized by the National Safety Council, achieving three awards this year.

The awards are:

Safety Leadership Award – Recognizes organizations that have achieved zero injuries and work-related illnesses involving time away from work in a consecutive five-year period.

Occupational Excellence Achievement Award – Recognizes organizations with injury incident rates that are better than 50 percent of companies in their respective North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code.

13 Million Hours Award – Awarded to organizations for working more than 13 million man hours without a lost-work time injury or illness.

“We’re extremely proud of our successful health and safety initiatives,” said Lydia Crabtree, Brown and Caldwell health and safety program manager. “The result of our efforts is that we benefit from having safer and healthier employees, and our incident costs and loss history are substantially better than our industry at large. With reduced costs and increased productivity, our safety record is a benefit for both BC and our clients.”

In March 2016, Brown and Caldwell hit the milestone of working 13 million hours and five continuous years without an occupational injury or illness that resulted in days away from work

“This is a tremendous accomplishment for a company the size of BC,” said Rich D’Amato, president and COO. “We celebrate success in this critical area because our employees take safety very seriously and work hard at maintaining a workplace free from danger and injury. Health and safety is a priority and our top core value.”

Exceeding industry standards in safety has made Brown and Caldwell a five-time recipient of the National Safety Council’s Industry Leader Award (2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, and 2010). For all awards, winners are selected based on NAICS code, lowest total incidence rate and employee work hours.
