AWWA releases statement on Hurricane Dorian

The American Water Works Association extends its sympathy to all those impacted by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas and its concern for all those in harm’s way on the southeast coast of the United States.

AWWA stands in solidarity with the committed water professionals who will work tirelessly in difficult conditions to maintain and restore water and wastewater services throughout this event.

As of this writing, the Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network, or WARN as it is commonly known, is monitoring the situation in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia to prepare for potential recovery efforts. The WARN system allows utilities to assist other utilities in need during an emergency.

AWWA encourages members who wish to help with relief efforts in the Bahamas to consider financial donations to reputable emergency response organizations such as Global Givingthe Red CrossDirect Relief and the International Medical Corps.

AWWA will post any necessary updates on its WARN page as they relate to the response efforts through WARN for Hurricane Dorian.
