ASCE Pipelines 2010 a Mile High Success

The ASCE Pipelines 2010 Conference held in Keystone, Colo., from Aug. 28, to Sept. 1, 2010, was a huge success. Planners had hoped to get 500 attendees, but their expectations were exceeded as the conference drew more than 600 attendees, with 61 exhibitors and 20 sponsors. ?

Student Days, a program to introduce civil engineering students to pipeline professionals and career opportunities, presented by the Construction Institute of ASCE, was held in conjunction with pipelines conference.? More than 50 students from 14 universities throughout the United States participated in team building, educational sessions and networking with industry professionals at the conference.

Preconference Workshops were well attended, with the PCCP User?s Group meeting attracting over 100 attendees.? In addition to the 156 papers presented in six different technical tracks over the three days, the Pipeline Division awarded Dr. Mohammed Najafi its Award of Excellence and presented Joseph Barsoom the prestigious Stephen D. Bechtel Pipeline Engineering Award.

Next year?s conference will be held in Seattle, Wash., from July 23-27, 2011.
