The Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) recently concluded its annual Board of Directors election, with the association’s members voting to add two new directors, while four others were re-elected.
The newly elected board members are Randy Conner, Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Water Management, and Doa Ross, Deputy General Manager – Engineering and Operations, at the Las Vegas Valley Water District (LVVWD).
AMWA said both Conner and Ross will bring notable experience to its board.
Conner has more than two decades of leadership experience in urban engineering and public infrastructure, including overseeing implementation of the 10-year, $6 billion “Building a New Chicago” capital plan.
Ross has been with LVVWD since 2000 and manages four departments with more than 750 employees within the Engineering, Operations, Infrastructure Management, and Water Quality and Treatment departments.
Additionally, the current AMWA board members re-elected to four-year terms were:
- Julie Anderson, Denver Water
- Alex Chen, Seattle Public Utilities
- Todd Swingle, Toho Water Authority
In addition, John Sullivan of the Boston Water and Sewer Commission was elected to serve the remaining two years of a vacant seat on the board. Sullivan previously served as the Board’s “Director Emeritus.”
AMWA said members of its 25-member board each serve four-year terms, which are staggered so roughly one-quarter of the seats are up for election each year. AMWA said the board will elect its officers for the upcoming year prior to its Executive Management Conference, Oct. 25-28, in Seattle.
