Engineering and geospatial firm McKim & Creed announced it has welcomed Ashley Smart as regional program manager for asset management and smart utility solutions.
Based in Austin, Smart will support clients across Texas and the South Central region, leading the growth and delivery of asset management and smart utility solutions for water and wastewater utilities.
Smart brings more than 13 years of water and wastewater industry experience, with expertise in wastewater collection systems, flow monitoring, utility infrastructure, asset management and business development.
“Ashley brings a valuable combination of technical expertise, industry relationships and a strong understanding of the challenges utilities are facing today,” said Barry Hales, McKim & Creed’s Vice President of Asset Management. “Her experience will strengthen our Asset Management team and expand how we help clients use data and technology to improve system performance, make informed investment decisions and plan for the future.”
Smart is an active leader in the water industry and serves as chair of the 2026 Water Environment Federation Collection Systems Conference. She is also involved with the Water Environment Association of Texas (WEAT), American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) and other industry organizations.
A frequent workshop leader and conference speaker, Smart has presented on smart sewer technologies, collection systems and utility innovation. She earned a Bachelor of Science in biology, chemistry and anthropology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
At McKim & Creed, Smart will work with clients to develop and implement strategies that improve infrastructure performance, operational efficiency and long-term asset management. Her addition also supports the firm’s continued expansion of asset management and technology-driven utility services throughout Texas and the South Central region.
